Structural Wood Components was formed 17 years ago by industry veteran Larry Margreiter, who recognized the need for a specialized heavy timber truss and component manufacturing company in the Houston area. For 15 years, Larry grew the company and established its reputation in the industry as a supplier of quality heavy timber trusses and related components. Following a successful and rewarding career, Larry decided to sell his business and retire.

Charles Kott acquired the business in January of 2008, bringing with him a degree in Engineering, a 25-year background in equipment manufacturing and a long-term interest in architecture, design and wood products. Three key employees, including one of the previous owner’s family members, have remained with the business to continue supply of quality heavy timber product. Under Charles’ leadership, we are building upon the foundation of prior ownership and positioning the business for future growth.

Since the business changed hands in 2008, Structural Wood Components has successfully delivered over 1,100 custom heavy timber trusses, added two AutoCAD stations for timber truss design, introduced a new timber connection system to its product offering, implemented a job scheduling system, created a dedicated estimating and procurement position, and implemented other procedures aimed at supplying quality trusses in compliance with our customers’ design and schedule requirements. We are positioned to supply our customers a multitude of truss designs, for jobs small and large, as a continued leader in the industry.
